I had a thought about something over the weekend (17 hours of alone time will do that to a person).

The church is against gay marriages because it goes against what the bible says. But what I don't get is this: God created man*. God created man's attitudes and all their little quirks. Therefore, by default, God created gays (and everything between gay and straight). Sooooooooooooo....if God made people gay, why is it "wrong" in the eye of the church?

I don't really know you. I found your journal through a friend but as a recovering catholic my thoughts are as so. If go creeated man in it's perfection and infinite wisdom then how can being gay be wrong? The only reason the bible says what it says is becasue it was writien by man and not god. Man has fear of what it can not understand. Man is not perfect. So leaving the writing of something they're going to put their own spin on it. Their of mark. But if you go by the whole love every one for their imperfections and cause no hamr liek the origional hippy *Jersus* said than you get closer to what god and christianty is suppose to be about.

That's just my take on things.

you've stumbled upon a fundamental truth. God created Earth. God created Man. Man is the model of God. how can God condemn Man for being something he created some of them to be? it makes no sense, and neither do these fucking hypocrite fundies. they're the ones insisting that God said homosexuality is wrong, not God. these people praise God until they're blue in the faces, and then turn right around and: gossip, cheat on spouses, buy demon booze, buy wanton women, smoke forbidden cigarettes, kill each other, beat each other up, lie, curse, stab each other in the back, BLAHBLAHBLAH...and insist on flying those fucking rebel flags on their warped, peeling porches.

i've found the worst "christian" offenders to be rednecks. two-faced jackals, feel my wrath! you have no right to judge! there is a special place in hell reserved for those who hate without knowledge; who betray each other's confidences; who cannot accept others for who they are. i'll be holding the door open for you when you get there...DON'T use the Bible as a convenient excuse to start your own personal witch hunt. you fundies corrupt the basic ideas of religion to your own prejudices.

gays are human beings as well, and should have the right to love and marry whomever they please (within marrying age, of course). our beloved president is trying to destroy the rights of the american people because he has a big hate on for people that make him uncomfortable. we should pay a male member of his staff to kiss him during a photo op or congressional hearing. it would serve the bastard right.

My friend and I were talking about this the other day. I have gay uncle...s and I'm for gay marriage, but my friend is completely homophobic. She brought me the bible and told me to read it to show how "wrong" homosexuality is. It was quite amusing, because she got so mad. But you guys are deffinately right about everything you said.
I'm not religious at all and this is one of the reasons why. There is something wrong (in my opinion) with every religion.

When I talk to people I can stand, I explain to them my idea of going to church and religion. As you can tell by my name, I love to camp. Camping is my form of going to church and recharging.

Your first mistake was THINKING. **sigh** I keep telling you it will only get you into trouble! But since you had to go and do it anyway, here's my 2 cents:

1) Man created god in the image of man to make man feel superior.
2) Man wrote the bible to control animals, women, and other men under the illusion of *god's will*.
3) IF you believe EVERYTHING that book says WORD FOR WORD AS TRUTH, then you are a fool.
4) That book is FULL of contradictions...ingenious, actually, since you can use it to defend almost ANY point of view.
5) Don't believe me? PMS is in there...*And Mary rode Joseph's ASS all the way to Bethleham...* :-)~
6) Your mistake: you are trying to have a battle of wits with unarmed opponents.

Bottom line is this: There are all kinds of people in this world: Black, Brown, White...straight, bi, gay...short, tall...overweight, average, underweight...nice, rude, and downright evil. Deal with it!

Again, Christianity is very closed-minded. I think that is my biggest argument with the religion. Not gays, not pain and suffering (which is belief of Pandora's Box), etc. It's just the entire closed-mindedness of the religion in general. That is my bout with it.

My faith isn't wishy-washy. I have my morals and beliefs but many of them are in contradiction to Christianity. Why do you think I oppose so much of that religion in general?

And, everything will be ok. everything is a loop. Look at the Crusades. Look at the Civil Wars. Look at the bombing of WTC. Look at the wrongings of what we are doing in Iraq. Look at everything. It's a loop and it will keep happening.

There is no such thing as pure so why do you work so hard to attain a purity that is impossible to reach? Oh, I sinned. Let me ask god for forgiveness. Oh, i got it because I didn't murder someone. That means, if you sin you will automatically get forgiven. That doesn't make any sense! Also, by sin, i'm using it as in Christian beliefs, because in my belief, there is no such meaning to that word.

god is just a fabrication of the conscience for those whom are not strong enough to help themselves. For those whom are unwillingly to test themselves to the challenge of life and all its properties.

First of all, I posted this in MY OWN journal as MY OWN way of speaking my mind. I don't care that you read it, nor do I care that you commented, but keep in mind that these are MY thoughts and beliefs and I posted them MY journal as such.

Secondly, just because you are a christian does not mean that YOU know everything.

Thirdly, and I wish I could remember the passage, but to paraphrase it says something to the effect that if God's word was ever changed that it should be taken as null and void. I want to ask you a question. Did the people in Jesus' time speak English? No. I didn't think so. Therefore, all of the words in the bible have been interpreted and changed therefore voiding anything stated in the bible.

Forthly, I have a friend whose mother is Lesbian AND christian. Guess what-just because you're gay/bi/lesbian/tansgendered does NOT mean that you cannot believe and follow in the words of "God".

And for your information, I was raised christian, and found it incredibly boring and a waste of MY time to sit and listen to someone read out of a book that has been changed only GOD knows how many times and interpreted in GOD only knows how many ways.

ALSO, there are how many different religions in the world? How many of those religions believe in multiple gods? How many of those religions believe that their views are the right ones? Who are YOU to say that YOU are right and everyone else is wrong? Who is to say that You are right and I am wrong? Now, I'm not saying that I am right and that you are wrong. What I am saying is that I have my own views and beliefs, as do you. Once again, I posted this in MY journal and not in a community because I was not out to intentionally push MY thoughts on other people. Remember that you came here by your own free will.
