I fried my snowmobile (again) today.
That's the 2nd piston in that cylinder, and the 3rd piston it's burnt up.

I'm ditching the sled, and possibly another.
There's a local shop that deals with older sleds. I'm going to give him a visit to see if he'll trade me. 2 sleds + parts (and possibly cash) for 1 newer, more reliable sled. I have no need for 3 snowmobiles. 2 are mine, one's my old man's that he bought when he was 20 (split payments with one of his sisters and one of his brothers). His only needs a new coil (which I picked up for $5, just haven't installed yet, since it's burried in my shed.

Man that's frustrating! UGH

Good luck setting up a trade. Definitely is better to spend more time riding and less time working on them. The last sled I rode was a '74 Arctic Cat 440. LOL That was at a friends cottage near Sodus Bay.

I think I need another toy. I'm thinking another Kawasaki Jet Ski would be good for the summer. It's only 30 minutes to Seneca or Keuka lake from here. Someone had a 550 or sale with low hours that I wanted but it didn't have a trailer and I didn't have a garage then. It's too heavy to keep lifting into the truck if you don't have a trailer. Somewhere I have a pic of me riding my old one.

This is an '80 Arctic Cat Pantera 500. It has a melted piston when I got it. I fixed it, rode it for a while, and melted the other piston 2 winters ago. Just got around to fixing it this year.

I have a '72 AC Panther 400 and a '72 Polaris Colt 295 sitting in my shed. I guess it's time I start working on the Panther to see if I can get more for it running than dead.

You need to have something to play with besides the 4 wheeler. If that's the one that only needs a coil it shouldn't take you long. I think the '74 was called El Tigre.

My friend has a 73 el tigre 340. That thing friggin scooted.

The one that needs a coil is the polaris. I think The Panther needs motor mounts (which I have), and some minor tinkering.
