I got a call this afternoon from my mom.
She tried to find the words to say it gently, but there are none.
We all knew it was coming, but it's still a shock.
It's better for her this way, but it's still sad.
I want to say I'm ok, but I still hurt.

The reason for the call?

Our dog died this morning.

She was almost 16 years old.
It was her time.
We knew it was coming, it was just a question of when.
We think she had a couple strokes.
She wandered around the house aimlessly a lot.
I caught her standing, staring at the wall a couple times.
This morning, she didn't want to move.
She just laid there, in the living room.
I knew something wasn't right when I left the house.
I had a feeling that something just wasn't right.
It was her time.
She faught hard.
She went quickly.
It was her time.

April,
My little puppy,
Rest in peace.

Sorry to hear that Jeff.
16 is certainly a full life for a dog.
It's always tough to lose a pet, especially one you've had since you were young. :(

Turns out she was almost 15, but that's splitting hairs.

We've had her since I was 10, and before that it was 2 years in between dogs, so it's really strange to me not having a dog around the house.

Thank you.

Now it's time to adjust to not having her around. I wish it would either snow, or the snow would melt, right now. Her prints are still outside in the snow.

Sorry, about your dog... My childhood dod died 5 or so years back. Sadly, my mother never bothered to inform me. I never even had the opportunity to say goodbye...What sort of dog did you have?

I've nearly always had mongrels....When I decide to buy another dog...Hmmm... I want a huge arse German Sheperd/Golden Retriever. This way, if my friends get out of hand, my dog will on command eat them up!!! **evil smirk** It's early, and I'm just having my coffee, so cut me some slack, lol.

It's strange not having a dog in the house. For 23 of my nearly 25 years, we've had a dog. I'm trying to talk my parents into getting another puppy (maybe this spring), but they don't like the idea. Maybe I'll get one and say it's mine, so they don't have to deal with it. Either way, my next dog will be a short-haird dog.
