Well, I took a big step last night. I walked through the doors of Bally's Fitness last night looking for information on memberships. A half hour later I walk out the door with a new membership. $30/mo can't be beat (he says it was a special running yesterday only...sounded suspicious, but still a great price).

Here's hoping the fact that I'm PAYING for a membership will get me to go on a regular basis. As my schedule stands right now, I can go after work Mon, Thurs, and Fri, and after bowling on Tues. Wednesdays are shot because of scouts. 4 days is certainly better than none. If I feel I HAVE to do something, I could always run after scouts (here's hoping I develop that much dedication).

Anyone want to join with me?

trust me on this one.

you have to get 12 visits under your best first, BEFORE you can leave in those 30 days.

and they'll still charge you for the following month.

the man and i are dealing with a legal battle now with them...and if you complain to them GM, they'll just say so what? you also have to deal directly with corporate for any sort of end to the contract...and youll have to send in your contract should you want out. my suggestion is to get a photocopy of it, and send THAT in if you want to quit...that way you have the original on hand should they try to screw you and say they never got it.

also - if you end up dealing with corporate...take down the time you talk to them, the day, and the name of the person, as well as notes from the conversation. it helps should they try to screw you.

Let's just hope it never gets to that. I work with a guy who has been there long enough (has reache dthe end of his contract), and is now paying $4.50/mo.

yeah - there are some who like it enough to deal with the bullshit at the beginning. i'm just making you aware of the situation should you try to leave before the end of 3 years.
