Feb. 25th, 2004 11:20 amI really wish that you'd take the time to stop and see what I see in the snow. It's so peaceful when it's snowing like this. The snow is gently falling, like little tiny parachutes. They just seem to float down out of nowhere. Who knowswhere they come from, but I'm glad they're here. I'ts so quiet. It's so quiet I can hear the snow hitting the ground, even though it's coming down so gently. i wish more people would take the time as I do to see this. There are a few people walking around outside, but I don't think they notice what I do. they're in too much of a hurry, all bundled up, to get to wherever they're going. They're probably complaining about the snow falling down the collar of their shirt, or about how slippery it's getting, just like the guy in the can, who's having a hard time getting up the hill. But it's not like that. It's not even all that cold. so it makes the snow much more enjoyable. It's often hard to describe how it sounds when it's snowing. The snow acts as an insulator and causes all the sounds to be muffled. But even with the sounds being so silenced, you can still hear the snow crunshing under each step.
Maybe the serenity has to do with the color, the color white. White often signifies a sense of calmness and peacefulness, a sense of purity and of the new. The snow is slowly burrying the grass. It's getting whiter and whiter. More and more peaceful. Snow like this relaxes me. I could very easily fall asleep here. Just thinking about how I'm the only one around calms me. It gives me a sense of being alone and detached from people, the world, from life. no one to bother me. No deadlines to meet. No time to keep track of. No worries. Sometime when it's snowing like this, take the time to stop and watch. you never know what you'll see or feel.
