On a slightly more upbeat note,
I got my first deer yesterday.
Little button buck. Nothing too exciting, but exciting to me none the less.
Some say that hunting with a gun isn't a sport. That it's too easy. Well, they're right, right up to the point that a deer walks past you, within range. The instant you see that deer, your heart practically jumps out of your chest, your breathing increases, and you start to shake. This, my friends, makes for a VERY difficult shot. Add in the trees between you and the deer, and the fact that he just walked up BEHIND you. Yes it sounds easy, but man it can be really difficult at the same time.

The following cut is provided for those with weak stomachs.
My god deer guts smell nasty! They smell like rotten cow shit. I think it was increased by the fact that I shot the thing in the gut, which blew a bunch of stuff open. I don't know what it was, but goddamn!!

Now, on a side note, does anyone have any good recipes for venison???

way to go bud! Congrats! I have a few recipies have to dig them up though cause I just kinda throw all the ingredients together. I went hunting for the first time 2 weeks ago it sucked a big one I am not that patient and to sit still that long...well it just didn't work! :-( What type of recipies are you exactly looking for?
