I'm looking for some advice/validity.

I'm pretty sure I've posted about this already (my memory sucks, I'm going to be screwed when I get old), but Kim found a grill and suggested using some of our tax return to get it.

The qrill in question: http://www.grillsdirect.com/gas-grills/grills-with-carts/chargrillerduo.cfm

We went to Lowe's on Saturday to look at some stuff for around the house, and we swung through the grill section. They don't have one in stock, but, I asked about it and they can get one from the warehouse (would take about a week). After this wonderful news, I asked the inevitable question: "how much?" The salesman checked: "$299". WOOHOO! $100 cheaper than the store online (and no shipping).

NOW, should you be in my position, money needed for the house, lots of upgrades you want to make, etc., would you drop $300 on a grill? To go along with the grill, I would like to get the side fire box (for smoking), and a cover (for longer lasting grill, obviously).

Also, has anyone had any experience, or know anyone who has, with Char-Griller brande grills? From what I saw of the stuff they had at the store, it's pretty heavy-duty, so I've got a decent feeling about it.

Thoughts? Ideas? Validation?

Bueller?

everyone needs a grill. seriously.

we had a Char-Griller, and i think it lasted Chris 3-4 years before the innards rusted out...so keep that in mind.

That was my hopes in getting the cover. If there aren't any, maybe drilling some holes in the bottom to allow for draining might not be a bad idea either.

we had a cover.

so did a friend of ours...his rusted out, too.

neither of us had the dual setup like that, though. we both had a basic gas grill.

Interesting. Granted, the round shape of it probably helped. Condensation and such would just run down the outside and collect at the bottom.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Consider the upside to having a grill: BBQ'ing at home will save you money against going out for BBQ. You are making a solid financial decision ^_^

Good validation!

As it stands right now, I grill on a $30 portable grill right now, and I grill almost daily.

I 2nd this! Just think of the health benefits etc :)

plus technically it IS an upgrade ;) and if you sign up online or check around you can find coupons to print out even if its only 10% still gives you an additional deal

AND if you can't find any coupons look for home depot ones most lowes will accept home depot due to it being a competitor :)

If you grill daily; get it.

Also can you put it in a shed for the winter? Do that AND get the cover...should last awhile...but rust is never a flavor killer anyway.

It would have a home in the garage in the winter, for sure.
