I'm so annoyed
My truck failed the NYS safety inspection AGAIN (2nd year in a row) because of a leaky rear axle seal. The SAME rear axle seal that went bad last year. Guess what this means! Yup. Something else is wrong that's causing the seals to wear and leak. Bent axle? I really don't know, and from the sounds of it, I'm going to have to go through Ford to get a new one. oh joy!
ARG
I'm so freaking irritated by this right now, I'm half tempted to pay a mechanic to do it for me simply because I don't want to deal with it, but I don't trust mechanics.

Cars these days are designed to last 100,000 miles. I learned this in one of my design classes. It revolves mostly around bearings, and trying to keep costs down. Designing for 100,000 miles is cheaper than designing for 200,000 miles, so in order to keep costs down, they cut as many corners as possible.

What? It works. I swear. :)
Seriously though, sorry to hear this. I kow how irritating this crap can be.

I talked to my g/f's dad and he's thinking it may be a bad bearing, which is much easier to swallow than a bent axle.

I really wish my old guy hadn't retired. He was local and VERY good. :(
