Had our secret santa lunch for work today.

I ended up with a bottle of Reisling ice wine.

YUM!!!!!!!!!!

If you've never had ice wine...I'm sorry. It's like the nectar of the gods.

Reisling is good, but ice wine is even better. It's taking everything I have to not open the bottle now (that and I don't have a cork screw).

I don't like it much either, and when I do have it, it HAS to be sweet. Ice win is like syrupy sweet. It's soooooooooooooo good.

I just don't drink wine much, unless it's the homemade wine a friend of mine makes (homemade FTW).

It's sweet, and boy is it strong (I'm guessing 20-25% alcohol). It'll knock your socks off!

All you need is somethin' pokey and somethin' heavy. Pound the pokey thing into the cork with the heavy thing, cork goes right into the bottle, access to wine granted.

Yeah... been on a few camping trips sans corkscrews or churchkeys.

Unfortunately, the only drinking I've done while camping is in the form of beer (bottle for car camping, can for canoe trips).

That and most of us carry a swiss army knife, so someone's bound to have a corkscrew on theirs (ONE of mine does).

I *adore* icewine. In fact, if you like icewine you're probably a port fan, too, so let me tell you this: Seppelt Australian Tawny Port will stand at least even in a fight with 20-year-old Taylor Fladgate. At $9 a bottle. Srsly. The catch is, you have to order it online, 'cause nobody distributes it in these parts.

tawny port is probably the only port i can handle (but i wouldn't make a regular habit of it).

...though if i'm drinking port, it's DEFINITELY going to be Portuguese in origin (points to Portuguese boyfriend as the reason).

Pf. Seppelt kicks the living crap out of most of the Portuguese port I've had (and no Portuguese port in that price point can even get in the ring with it). Tell your bf to get over himself and give the Australians a little credit.

i'll pick up a bottle of aussie stuff if i see it. our liquor store is like the wal-mart of liquors...it has EVERYTHING (and can special order anything they might not have in stock).
