Oct. 17th, 2006 07:41 amI can't help but feel somewhat heavy-hearted.
I just found out that another soldier has died in Iraq. A soldier who is a brother to a used-to-be-sorta friend. She used to be friends with an ex of mine. We never hung out, but I knew her. I practically gave her the clothes off my back when she lost everything in a fire.
When something like this hits so close to home, even if you don't know the person directly, it stings. Such a senseless death in a senseless war. I wish the powers that be knew people personally in the war that they're fighting. Then maybe they'd understand the hurt that they're putting the American citizens through.
Rest in pease, Jonathan Lootens. May your soul know that you died protecting us so that we may continue to live our lives freely.

Date: 2006-10-17 11:51 am (UTC)I know 3 marines (related to one of them), one in the Army, two in the air force, and one Naval reservist...
It's a scary, scary thought.
