That's right! ME!!!

Hehehehe.

I'm so proud of myself.

I love where I work.

Kim has a car top carrier for her car (Yakima), and she has foam pads to hold her kayak. The idea is/was to modify said foam pads to fit her roof rack, therefore saving her over $100 for the true Yakima boat pads.

A 1" wood bit worked quite well, until the bit was fully into the foam, leaving roughly an 8" gap (when drilled from both sides) undrilled. I thought my dad had a drill extension, but I couldn't find it this morning. I promised Kim I'd get them rigged up so they'd work so she could use them this afternoon.

I wandered my happy ass right on down to the machine shop to do some scrounging. I couldn't find any 1" pipe/tubing, but I did find a piece of 3/4" copper tubing. I filed a notch in the end of it to act as 2 cutting teeth and threw it into the lathe. I then bored a very nice 3/4" hold through the foam pads, by which I fulfilled my promise to Kim that she could use her rack tonight so she could go paddle.

She better paddle tonight!
