I've got a line on a used laptop for $600.
It's about 2 years old, and a P3. I don't remember the exact specs on it, but at the time it was purchased, it was top of the line.
It also comes with about $10,000 worth of software (CAD type programs).

Think it's worth it?
I'll try to get more info on it.

Anyone want to lone me $600 to get it if I decide to get it? *plink plink*

Well, not that that's a bad deal for all the software (because it's a great price), but for future reference, any software like that that you need we likely have a copy of. We have several multi-thousand-dollar CAD/CAM programs that we "acquired" (cracked), so if that's tilting you towards it/you wouldn't spend $600 for just the computer, then we can burn you a copy ;)

I honestly don't need any of them. I'm running SDRC's I-DEAS here at work, and have AutoCad 14 and 2000 on CD around here somewhere (even though 2000 doesn't run on XP). Oh, and I also have a copy of Vellum on my work computer. The software's not a major thing. I'd probably end up taking most of it off the computer anyway.

Save your money. When you have enough, get a Intel Pentium "M" processor or Cenrino chipset. They use a lot less energy so the battery lasts a long time. You also will want the built in wireless. You may want to have bluetooth wireless too for future connectivity to cell phones, PDA's, MP3 players, etc.

Maybe you should put a PayPal donate button on your userinfo page?

I was wondering when you were going to actually use one of your new icons.

I keep forgetting I have the icons. lol

I'd really like a laptop, but to get one that I want, I'd have to sell a kidney on the black market or something to get. What can I say? I've got expensive taste. I'm looking at over $2000 to get a decent set up.

Pare it down a little. Do you run games and stuff that are processor intensive? I think mine was like $1600. I wasted extra money for a hi-res widescreen monitor on it too.

I have a tendancy to be frugal when buying things, then down the road wishing I had stepped up and paid a little extra for some more RAM or what have you. Now I over buy. lol

Why else would Guinness be my beer of choice, right?
lol

Although, I am starting to venture into Porters. I'm definitely a fan of dark beers.

it would be worth it for the programs if you need them. you would have to be more in depth with the system specifics to know if it is worth it otherwise. the good thing is if you get it,you could copy and sell the programs and make some $$ back... though i would never do such a thing myself.
