Dad got his gallbladder out last Thursday. They couldn't do it laparoscopically, so they had to cut him open. Apparnetly he's been having problems for years, and his gallbladder was all shrivelled up and stuck to his colon. YUCK!

Well, we were hoping dad would come home tomorrow, but that didn't happen. Though he IS coming home today...some time around noon. We picked up a recliner from the town's loan closet, so he has something to sit on other than the couch, which is damn near impossible to get out of without using your abs (he can't use his abs since they were cut open in order to get to his gallbladder).

That's good news.

Also, yesterday, went woodchuck hunting with Luke. That's always fun. At least we had some success this time. Saw 4, got 2. I got the two, missed one, Luke missed the other. The really strange part is that the two that I got were from about 150 yds, and the one I missed was within 50. Forgot about that whole shooting high at much under 100 yds. OOPS! On the positive side, I hit the two exactly where I wanted to *happy dance*. I'm a better shooter than a Marine! But shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...don't tell HIM that.
We also saw a coyote, though we didn't get a shot at it...it took off before I could even find it in the scope. Saw two deer on the way out after that, a 4-point and a 6-point, both still with velvet.

Yup....that's where I'm at. I'm tired, worn out, but alive, and things are getting better day by day.

he'll get grouchy and stircrazy before the end. find some cool stuff for him to do around the house.

is he into model building?

He hasn't touched a model in nearly 10 years, if not longer.
He's going to want to work on his 'vette, though that is so NOT an option. That's going to be my job, not that he's going to be able to drive it or anything.

yeah...

well, like i said, he's going to need something to keep him busy. maybe sit some model sets in conspicuous places? i know when my dad was sick with the flu one year he built 15 model houses for a train set we used to have...

and he hates doing those things.

The biggest problem is that he's going to have to sit back in a chair most of the time. He won't be able to use his abs for several weeks. I may try to swing through wal-mart of something and pick up some puzzle books for him. That and inventory my movie collection for him, because there is NOTHING on tv during the day.

He's well acquainted with napping. Seems that's all he does in the hospital.

you know this, but I'll say it here anyway...

I'm glad he's home. Now maybe Mom can relax a little.

Just remember...this is genetic, so pay attention! I won't be nearly as nice to you as Mom is bein to him if you let it go for as long as he did!!!

I love you

Dad's more stubborn than I am! I think THAT'S a genetic thing too...but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for symptoms.

I love YOU!
