Is tomorrow really Christmas Eve? Shit.

Life:
Kim's been sick since Saturday. Couple that with living and sleeping in a new place, and you get one VERY tired couple. Kim hasn't been sleeping well, and as a result, neither have I. It's a really good thing this is a short week. I have a feeling I'd be calling in sick if it wasn't, just to catch up on sleep. Consider this a warning if my post doesn't make complete sense

House:
Sunday morning I attempted to take a shower. However, the tub wasn't draining. I grabbed the drain snake from the basement and went to town, and got nowhere. Long story short, the plunger for the drain (so you can fill the tub) had made it's way down the threaded rod and was permanently sitting in the drain, no matter how many times you try to unplug the drain. A few turns of the adjustment screw and things were better. Problem one fixed.

Problem two...no hot water in the shower. I futzed around with this one for a while and determined that the mixing valve for the shower is bad. CRAP. I also determined that if you push the flow control knob in, you could get enough "hot" water to shower with. This worked Sunday, yesterday, and half of today. Needless to say, I had to shower at work, and will be going to Home Depot or Lowes at lunch to get a new cartridge for the mixing valve. Hopefully I can actually get the handle off the faucet so I can change it out. After Christmas, we may very likely be getting a new faucet, and in the process I'll be learning how to replace a mixing valve so we can have a different type of faucet. FUN FUN!

Willy:
Willy's slowly adjusting, and getting used to the house and us. He's such a sweet dog. I was laying on the floor checking email and such (chord doesn't reach the couch, yet, so I have to use the only 3-prong outlet in the living room), and he came over and layed down next to me. Just for fun, I layed down next to him and put my arm around him, and he stayed right there. This is a big difference from what I grew up with. Our last dog wanted to be in the same room, but wasn't a cuddler. Boy is Willy a complete opposite! He LOVES to cuddle and lay with you. He's such a sweetheart.

Christmas:
As I get older, I find it harder and harder to get excited about Christmas. It's just lost that "magic" it had when I was a kid. I don't get excited about it anymore. All it is to me now is a big ball of stress. Stress over where we're going and when. Stress over what to get people. Stress over how to PAY for everything for everyone. Stress over stressing. It's hard. It's just not the same, and I quite often miss that. I started listening to Christmas music last week in hopes that I could find myself getting into the Christmas spirit, and I really have to force myself into it this year, which sucks. I'm really hoping that once we have a kid, things will change, as their energy about Christmas will hopefully spark something for me, and bring back some of that magic that I've been missing for so long.
